The Firmware is the same in models DV-2850/380/383/585/588, and Gufiak's firmware mod works fine on all of them! 1. Download the v1.09 of the firmware here: http://board.softpedia.com/index.php?showtopic=2217 2. Unrar the files and start Nero Burning Software. 3. Choose to make a CD-ROM (ISO) compilation. Select "No Multisession" and uncheck Joliet. Label the volume PIONEER. Press new. Drag and drop the .bin file you unpacked earlier. Burn the disc. 4. Insert the CD into your DVD-player. A screen comes up that says "UPGRADE CD detected. Press Play to upgrade". Press play and wait for the DVD-player to reboot. It might take a couple of minutes though. 5. Almost done! Remove the disc and close the hatch. Press the Enter button on your remote until the DVD-Player shuts down and reboots. Voila! Region free! (+ a BIG bunch of other helpful stuff :D) If you want to or need to reset your DVD-player to the factory default settings, just put it in standby mode, hold down the stop button on the front panel and press STANDBY/ON.
