PostRegion code hack posted by Bobby666, November 09 2003:

I've done it!

I've used the regionhack using my compaq ipaq 3800. I installed "TV remote" and downloaded the ccf - file from www.remotecentral.com :
( pio-dvd-dv454.zip
13kb (<30s at 28.8k or 56k)
|ccf templates|dvd players|
1,941
December 24, 2002)

Opened up the file in the Tv-remote program, turned on the dvd with no cd in it, and started pressing the "zero button" on the tv-remote programs virtual pad. Pressed it lots of times but nothing happened...got a bit tired of it all, so I just put In a regioncoded dvd that didn't work before....voilá it WORKED!!! :D I'm superhappy.

Good luck to all of you

/Bobby

I used the Pioneer 454 Hack, but it didn't work. Then I found this modified version of the hack. It worked on the first try.

Used a Palm with PalmOS and Omniremote.

The Peter's hack mentioned by Jeremy worked at first try for DCS-313. Amazing.

Instead of devices and softwares described here, I used (maybe for first time ever?) a Nokia 6600 mobile phone and Total irRemote for Series 60 smartphones from www.psiloc.com.

Just import Peter's lrc file to irRemote, assign the command 'region' to any button and run it.

Geschafft!!!
http://cycontrol.de/download/IR-1.pdf

2. Den Code von PETER (many thanks to YOU!!!). Genau so (!) kopieren und im EDITOR (!) als dcs.cf speichern. Ab hier:

bis hier... "end remote" ist das letzte Wort, dass in die Datei muss!

3. Das Programm LIRC für Windows... gibt es hier:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/winlirc/
winlirc-0.6.5.zip?download

so, das war es schon...

dann: Den Sender zuasammenbauen. MANY MANY THANKS TO ALL OF YOU!!!

PostRegion code hack posted by marcus, May 07 2004:

noch vergessen: der Player muss AN sein, die CD Schublade LEER und GESCHLOSSEN und der SENDER muss natürlich in Reichweite zum Empfänger im Gerät sein. Ich habe den Sender einfach in die Mitte unterhalb des blauen Lichts im Abstand von 10 cm gehalten und den Code 2 mal gesendet.

Now it worked for my DCS 313!!

I used the hack posted by Rutger above. However I will provide how I did it exactly...

I used a Palm Vx with Omniremote (Latest trial version)

First you have to go to the menu Advanced/databeses (You have to be in the TV mode)

Then Export category - You will then find the catetory in Memo Pad on your Palm. Then edit under Button "0" to:

0000 0067 0050 0000 0154 00af 0016 0040 0016 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015

0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0015 0015 0016 0040 0015 0015 0016 0040
0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0016 0040 0015 0015 0016 0040 0015
0015 0016 0040 0015 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0015 0015 0016 0040 0015 0015
0016 0040 0015 0015 0016 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0016 0040 0015 0015 0016
0040 0016 0040 0014 045d 0154 00ae 0016 0040 0016 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015
0015 0015 0016 0040 0015 0015 0016 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0014 00af

I imporded this to the memo pad as a text file. Then just cut and paste.

Then you go back to Omniremote and Menu Advanced/databases and chose "import category" - it shold give you 18 new items...

Then just turn on your Pioneer DCS313 with no disk in and punch "0" when your in TV-mode on your Palm in Omniremote - and there you go!!!

Many thanks Rutger for your hack!!

I have a Pioneer XV-DV222 Home Cinema Set with region code 2 programmed in it.
I tried the method to send code to the DVD player using Winlirc and the dcs.cf file of which the code is provided a few post earlier.
Whatever I try, I can't get my XV-DV-222 region free. Anybody solved this problem yet?

PostRegion code hack posted by e5frog, January 21 2007:

I used marcus (above) description and code - worked perfectly!

I only built the simple IR-transmitter http://www.lirc.org/transmitters.html

All you need is a 9 pin D-SUB, a 1k resistor, a 1N4148 diode and a IR-LED.

From pin #4 (DTR) I connected the anode of the diode, then resistor to pin #5 (GND) and on top of those the IR-LED, flat edge of IR-LED on the resistor. A small 13 mm "tower" on the D-SUB connector. Took five minutes to solder after I stole the IR-LED from a transmitter...

I connected it to my laptop and held it up in front of my player - and voilá. I can play all my different region DVDs.

I wasn't satisfied with the fact that the Macrovision protection is still there, so I opened the unit up and looked for the PD3381A that's in other Pioneer players, but all I could find was a PD0104A - it could be worth investigating...
