I also used this HACK on PET 724. Very easy. I just tried a Region 2 DVD on it and it played just fine.

I thought my PET-724 was not taking the hack. But I realized after many many many frustrating tries, that I was not hitting the '5' key listed in the hack. Check the remote carefully, the number 6 is where you'd normally expect the 5 to be. Once I figure that out, the screen asking for the region did come up.

I flashed my pet 724/37 and it died, but after 2 month research i managed to put again a modifyied firmware into it. here is what i did: Bought a samsung usb cable installed the cable driver, then serial communication is possible. open the pet 724, dissasembled almost completely and found under the main motherboard 4 round solder dots in pairs, 2 were txd, rxd and 2 gnd, 3v, soldered 4 thin cables and then soldered to the pinout of the usb cable only 3 gnd, txd and rxd, in the mktools page there is lost of different pinouts for different usb phone cables. used mktflasher to flash the pet. now everything is ok. to find the firmware i used this is the link. http://master-tv.com/proshivki/dvd/PHILIPS-eeprom-memory-dump.html |
