On a hunch I tried the DVD Region Hack that is provided by maca5631 for the PET 800 from philips, and it worked! I hereby gladly repeat the sequence he provided: Switch player on Open tray door Press setup on the remote control Select preferences (and press OK) Press 2,1,2,2,2,5 Press LEFT ARROW Press DOWN ARROW Press 0 when the screen displays region code Press set up to exit Happy Viewing | |||

I just tried this hack with the new version Philips PET 1002 and it works. I would amend the steps as follows though, to prevent the dumb user tricks I did during my first attempts. Switch the player on Open the tray door Press Setup on the remote control Select "Preferences Page" Press OK (This will select Audio.) Press 2,1,2,2,2,5 (The numbers are very small and 5 is not directly under the 2, as on a standard keypad.) Press LEFT ARROW Press DOWN ARROW Press 0 when the screen displays region code Press Setup to exit | |||
