I confirm Ragzon's hack; for your info, the screen says nothing while you enter the four digits, but when you press the region you require, e.g. 0 it displays "region was changed to 0". When you press "OK" the tray goes in again | |||

Open tray press stop press 9-8-7-9-0 press OK and it'll play all regions it also disables macrovision so that an older tv can use the dvd player. Where macrvision used to turn the screen purple it now plays slightly degraded though. I have not tried to record I had no need to. | |||

I can confirm that this hack still works as described. I recently moved to Canada from England and I bought the Philips DVP3140 from Walmart Canada today. The hack works like a charm and I can now play my region 2 DVDs on this player. Thanks very much! | |||
