Application: This hack uses the buttons on the machine plus one of the numerals on the remote. Regions: 1 and 2 tested, others untested but appear possible Requirements: Possibly the mod applied by Techtronics Notes: I don't know how specific the circumstances are for this hack to work so here is a potted history of my player. Bought around 1999 or so from Techtronics with region-free mod applied by Techtronics. Never had chance to try it out until many years later (2007). Can't remember any instructions from Techtronics about region settings so this hack may or may not be specific to that mod. I tried this out after reading a post elsewhere for the Panasonic S50. The Hack: With no disc in player, lid closed, screen up and player switched on, hold down PAUSE and FFWD on player. Keep pressed and now press a number on the remote. Hold all three buttons until blue screen dips to black and comes back. The number to press is the region number you wish to be able to play. I don't have discs of all regions so only regions 1 and 2 are tested. The following numbers appear to do something: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 0 Tested with: Region 1 Family Guy Volume 1 Works with Region modes 1 and 0 Region 2 Die Hard Works with Region modes 2 and 0 Region 2+4 (it says on the box) Life on Earth Disc 1 Works with Region modes 2 and 0 Region 2 Black Hawk Down Disc 1 Works with Region modes 2 and 0 Over time I'm sure all my DVDs will prove to work in region mode 0. All except Family Guy are region 2 and they've been working all the time I had the machine, presumably in region mode 2 since the whole reason I started this experiment was because the region 1 Family Guy wouldn't play. | |||
