Panasonic DMR-EZ45V. ================== The region-free hack was done using a OneForAll URC-7030 as follows:- 1. Turn the DVD recorder off. 2. Program the remote's DVD button to be a Panasonic remote with code 0490. 3. Using: Magic (**) 994 Magic, followed by the 3-digit code and then the button to assign, program codes to the following 10 numbers. (**) = hold magic until two flashes. Code button 191 1 120 2 065 3 180 4 143 5 155 6 122 7 117 8 129 9 123 0 4. Turn on the DVD recorder without a disc in and turn to an AV input. 5. Press 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0 consecutively and wait for the recorder to reset. (Timing of the button presses seems to matter, I had to do this twice.) 6. There is no confirmation message, but it did signal "WAIT" for about 20 secs, Switch off, switch on, put a non region 2 DVD in and it should play. | |||

Feb 2008 - Just used the following hack codes on this device and it worked just fine. Before the hack the unit would only play Region 2 discs. You'll need a "One For All" (OFA) universal remote, NOT the Panasonic remote. I used OFA model URC-9990, bought at Richer Sounds, Nottingham and used the ADD MAGIC KEY function to add the codes to the DVD keypad. The hack consists of entering 10 groups of three digits in sequence: 191 120 065 180 143 155 122 117 129 123 1. Turn on the Panasonic (with the unit's remote), with no disc in the tray. Set the OFA remote for "DVD", and assign a button for each 3-digit numbers shown above on your OFA remote. I used some spare keys on the DVD keypad. 2. Pointing the OFA remote at the unit, press each key you have setup with the codes in the correct sequence 3. Repeat this for the remaining nine groups noted above When all ten three-digit groups have been entered, press each of the buttons 1 through 0 in turn. Within 30 seconds or less, the unit resets itself, shows HELLO on the unit screen and is now region-free. I then put in a Region 1 DVD and it played straight away. Good luck! |
