If you have a Panasonic dmr e-50 all you need to record store bought or rented dvd's is an older dvd player as the playing source for the dvd recorder. I have burned 100.s of movies and used no hacks seems the copy rights are in the player not the recorder i use a memorex player thata about 5 years old I have tried many other players and the recorder says can not copy but not with the memorex player it copy's every time. Panasonic generic regional code IR sequence 0082 0015 0089 0004 00F2 0033 0017 0010 0091 0013 You can enter these codes with a PocketPC using TV Remote Controller and making a CCF file with these codes. Or use a Palm with Omniremote. Make sure no disc in the player when entering this code. | |||

Same "10 key presses" as for Panasonic S52. Tested on region 2 dmr-e500HEG recorder --- trying these steps on a region 1 (North America) e500h should make it region free but only for NTSC discs. Use 2 remotes --> a Panasonic DVD remote (EUR7617010, n2qahb000012, or EUR7617020, etc) for regular Panasonic dvd players and a OneForALL remote (used a URC 2981 but others should work). 9 of the required buttons are on the Panasonic remote so only a single feature needs to be programmed into the OneForAll. The Panasonic DVD/TV remote (such as eur7721km0) that comes with the recorder won't work. It doesn't have all the necessary buttons. First set the OneForAll for basic control (on/off, play, ↑ ↓ etc) of Panasonics. Wait for the blinks to happen before continuing. On the OneForAll press these buttons DVD, Magic (2 blinks), 0490 (2 blinks). Make sure it controls the dvd recorder. Next, program the "service key" into the OneForAll's 0 button by pressing Magic (2 blinks), 994 (2 blinks), Magic, 001430 (2 blinks). Turn the E500h on and wait for "no disc" on front panel. Then press the keys on the 2 remotes in this order Panasonic remote: ENTER, 6, ≥10, << OneForAll remote: 0 panasonic remote: AUDIO, 8, 1, SUBTITLE, 4 Recorder turns itself off, then back on automatically. Region 2-6 models should now play dvds from any region, ntsc or pal. Region 1 recorders can still only play ntsc discs, such as from Japan (region 2) or Hong Kong (region 3). | |||
