To Play VCD's Place CD in player (I used audio CD) Use your remote control only! press [STOP] press [MENU] press [9] press [1-ALL] this is the repeat key press [tray open button] this is the remote key that looks like a triange with the apex pointing up A menu will appear that will allow you to turn on the play VCD function Now, to switch to Region ALL with no disk in player, player on, open tray use the remote and press [MENU] then press [9] press the tray open key on the remote press the number [5] Menu will pop up that says region 1 - 6 press the mute button (it looks like a speaker with an X thru it) This will change the region to all! This is what worked for me with DVD200 bought in Summer 2002 (version 5 FW): REGION CODE press open press MENU Press 1 Press 6 Press 7 Menu appears - select specific region 1-6 or Press MUTE to select ALL for region VCD ENABLE With audio CD loaded (don't know if this is required or not) press MENU press 5 press open press 1 press INDEX MENU button (looks like a tabbed folder icon next to the repeat button) press open (menu appears) press 1 (to enable VCD) | |||

I have figured out a secret combination of keys on the front panel of the unit: switch on the DVD player while pressing the PLAY key (on the front panel). You will see that the unit is starting a sort of test with all kinds of messages being shown up on the display.I guess this also works for Oritron DVD 200, 600 and other similar DVD player based on the STI558 chip (or so). You could to the same thing while pressing both play and stop buttons and check what is happening. MAYBE SOMEBODY OUT THERE CAN FIGURE OUT HOW TO DISABLE ONCE END FOREVER THAT ANNOYING MACROVISION | |||

INDEX drücken 4. MENU drücken 5. Danach 5, 9, 7 drücken und dann EXIT Es erfolgt zwar keine erkennbare Bestätigung seitens des Players aber es funktioniert! Dieser Code müsste auch mit dem LT 7989, Oritron DVD-1030, Oritron DVD-200 und Matsui DVD-125 funktionieren. | |||

The easiest way I have been dealing with Macrovision, has been for about 5 years, with perfect success, is to buy a Video Stabilizer from an electronics store, or maybe even ebay. You run the video through that, and I have never had to worry about macrovision for years now. I have owned this since before DVD's and used it when copyiing VHS tapes I rented, and now I use it on the DVD player, with perfect results. I have to replace the 9 volt battery about every 2 years or so, but its so much easier, and works with all players. Hope this helps. | |||
