	I tried this on the DV-SP404 I bought in April this year, and the hack above (3690, etc. on remote) did not work. The player accepts the 3690 code, goes into standby, but will not play either region 2 or 4 discs -- still only region 1. It is possible there has been a firmware rev. since these original posts. Firmware on my player was YEB6824A.

	Someone know how to make the Onkyo-DVSP404 region free? I bought this DVD player in the US and I tried use the code 3690 with the remote but doesn't work It still blocked.

	Install the pioneer firmware, it works!. I bought mine in the US too, and when i return to Mexico i had problems due to region 4 (Latin America), and so, i installed the firmware for the DV-490V. Look for it in pioneerfaq.info, do not get mad!, it is for pioneer but works for Onkyo!!!.
