12JAN2018 - Hack does not appear to work. Attempted using genuine Onkyo RC-438DV remote with region 2 Onkyo DV-S939. Hack instructions do not appear to be in perfect English, so perhaps there is a miscommunication somewhere. Step 2 "unit will go in stop mode" is too ambiguous to be helpful, because my unit merely displays "Disc Error" on front panel and "Disc playback unauthorized" "Consult owners manual for further information" on tv screen. Following step 3 does nothing. | |||
