Region-Free Straight out of box! No hack required (the box even says "Multi-Region Code"). Go figure. So good deal for a cheap region-free DVD player. Only thing is that the laser appears to be kind of weak for reading cheaper media. YMMV.

It is sold set to region 0, but if for any reason you wanted to change the region setting, you can get to region menu as follows: - open the tray - press 9735

I tried this hack and does it only seems to work on US-made DVDs? Because my DVD is bought in Canada and I had difficulty. Any ideas?

First of all, it's a "Nova DV-D311", not a "Nova DVD-D311". This thing is multi-region right out of the box and does PAL->NTSC conversion fine.

cannon: mine was bought in Canada (Best Buy in Mississauga) and the hack works every time.

Got one today - it is brilliant, I have tried with region 1 and 2 DVDs and it works automatically (no code + does the PAL->NTSC translation automatically). The next version of this player is DV-D411 - the differences seem to be only aesthetic but I can''t say for sure.

Sorry guys, but am I stupid or what? The hack just doesn't seem to work on my player (btw, is it 9735 or 9375?), which I also bought in Canada (Future Shop). Thanks for your patience...

Hey Vishal, have you check your cables? I don't want to offend you but I spend a few minutes before realizing the S-video cable was not poperly inserted when I had this problem. |
