I have the Grundig DVDR550 which is the same machine as the Mustek. Mine was multi-region out of the box !! As for macrovision, if you connect a DVD player to the S-VIDEO input on the recorder together with phono leads you can record/copy macrovison free !!! If you connect scart-to-scart then you get macrovision. I am very happy with my Grundig, very good value for money. | |||

OKAY finally got my R100a to work region free, this might be customised firmware so not sure if it'll work for everyone else Here it goes without disk in recorder, on remote press 'setup', press 'return', press 'info', press numbers 8 8 8 then the required region (e.g. 1 or 4 or 0 etc) a message confirming will appear on screen, wait until it disappears... switch off and on again, setting saved I noticed that some disks do not like region 0 (region free) and will require setting up to a specific region stated on the disk. I've applied the firmware upgrade v1.79 on my R100A Plus. Faster menus, better translation (in french), but I've lost the "region free" possibility. Any idea to recover the "region free"? I've not tried the "Setup/Return/Info/888x" hack yet. Does it run with this firmware? Thx. | |||
