To play a DVD from another region.

Insert DVD you want to play
Power ON
With remote control repeatedly press 1 until message "Wrong region"
(nota you can use 2,3, ... 9 too)
-> DVD start to play
You can turn off the message by pressing the 'Audio' button.
It's not perfect and you have no control of the dvd.
You even have to turn the player off just to stop it.

Work with Initial 830 too.

This one definately works...after trawling the net for a long time i finally emailed Mintek and asked how to do it and they knidly replied with the answer and here it is.

INSTRUCTIONS TO CHANGE THE REGION CODE VIA REMOTE CONTROL;

1. POWER ON
2. PRESS ‘SET-UP’ BUTTON
3. SELECT THE ‘PREFERENCES’ MENU (PRESS CENTER ARROW BUTTON THIS IS THE ENTER BUTTON)
4. INPUT THE PASSWORD CODE WHICH IS 251345
5. PRESS ‘LEFT’ AND ‘DOWN’ BUTTON (NOW THE SCREEN WILL SHOW ‘REGION CODE 1’)
6. PRESS NUMBER BUTTON 0 TO MAKE MULTI-REGION.
7. PRESS ‘SETUP’ BUTTON TO EXIT.

The key with all Mintek seems to be the passcode.
Have fun

It has come to my attention that there is more than one passcode for this unit..so try the above and replace the code with 225422.

I this works please reply and to let others know which code works the most.

Concerning the Region code hack posted by cablecar, August 18 2004:

I was able to use code 225422, followed by the Left Arrow and then the Down Arrow, to change the code. However, Region Code '0' is not an option. This is probably because there is no '0' on the remote. Still, it opens up the player to out of region dvds!

Thanks cablecar!

Hello, I gave the information to Ricardo in regards to the codes needed for the 1810. I work in Tech Support for Mintek Digital and have given out the codes on several occasions to those who ask. The supplimentary that I'm going to put has helped many people enter the codes correctly.

You enter step 4 (Each Number Separate) and step 5 (Left Arrow then Down Arrow) in one fluid action. There is no prompt to enter the code once you reach the preferences menu. You can only reach that menu when there is no DVD in the actual player. You should check the Region by entering General Setup and entering 1379 and check the Green Box at the bottom to make sure the Region has Changed. The Rest is Accurate as to the steps and codes to use. Also try 224455.

Tried all of above..got nowhere....finally found this post, for another Mintek..
AMAZING!! Don't know if it was 1. the code, or 2. the leave-dvd
-door-open, then turn on... but it worked on my 1810!!! And to clarify, it's push left arrow, LET GO, then push down arrow, LET GO....also, the 10/0 button worked! good luck!
"Region code hack posted by Paul Clark, May 08 2005:
Ok guys, the details given before are not quite complete. I messed around with the previos hacks given and yes continually pressing 1 will play the dvd of any region, but may freeze at the title menu. Here is the hack thats guaranteed to work. Same as previously explained but.....................
1 Before powering on, open the lids, remove any media and leave it open so you can actually see the compartment where you place a disc.(this is how you get access to the preferences menu)
2 switch on unit from the side of the drive
Now on the remote control
3 Press set-up
4 Select preferences menu
5 Press play
6 Input 251131
7 Press "Left" then "Down" button
Should show region code menu
8 Select region free by hitting the 10/0 button, this will change the region to region free (ie 0)
9 Press set-up to confirm and exit.
Trust me this worked absolutely perfect for me.
Have Fun
Paul"
