It didn't work for me. I used a remote control to hack this dvd recorder. Unfortunately, nothing happened after I press a pause button.

Did not work for me as well, any other recommendation? Only bought because I trusted that original post worked fine...

Could hack using same procedure as LG RC7000 posted already. See details... 1.Switch on unit 2.Press- Setup on the remote 3.Select the Lock option from the on screen setup menu 4.Press 0 x 7 times on the remote keypad 5.A message appears stating the unit is now Code free on the screen 6.Press Enter on the remote. 7.Close Setup menu and switch unit off. 8.Switch on and enjoy Multi-region DVD playing on your LG RC199H (RC7000)

I just bought this burner/player/VHS player/recorder based on the hacks listed. Ok, I tried the pushing 0 x 7 and no it did not work for me. I did some searching around and found the hack that works. Credit goes to Q, for this hack on the LG DR1F9H. 1) Go to: http://lgregionfree.tripod.com/2005/menu1.htm 2) Download the 6000.zip file 3) Unzip it to a new directory 4) Burn the Directory and sub directories to a CD-R 5) If you follow the directions in the readme.txt file in the 6000.zip file, you can't go wrong. 6) Insert the CD-R and wait for it to read it 7) A screen will come up showing your current region and ask what you would like to change it to? 8) Press the numerical 0 one time and enter. 9) You must type in 0 and press enter witin 15 seconds of this screen showing up, or you will have to eject the CD-R and read it again. 10) You now have a region 0 DVD player. 11) To check this out put the CD-R in again and when it comes up it should say you are currently set for region 0. Good luck to all, Dunnman99

This is hack to enter the system configuration information. Once here you can change many aspects of the DVD including the region code. I have included a link with pictures of exactly how to do this <a href="http://thenetbuilder.com/2006/11/hack_your_lg_dvd_player.php">HERE</a> To start the hack: Click the home button on the remote, goto the Setup page, highlight the 16X9 aspect ratio and enter in this coded sequence: 1 3 9 7 1 3 9 To change the values of these options hit the enter button and scroll with arrow keys until you get to the option you want to change. For the region code hack replace the value of option 5 with the value of: ff Changing this value will set unit to region code 0 which should allow any region to be played on the player. Hit the return button to save and exit. Reboot the device - all is well now.

I applied this hack but had to switch the resolution of the player to 480i and go through the Coax RF connection. Previously it was set at 1080i and would not allow access to the 16:9 option. But it works fine.

Followed the info listed previously in the 2 posts below (with one change listed after the posts): Original Post: Region code posted by netbuilder, November 28 2006: This is hack to enter the system configuration information. I applied this hack but had to switch the resolution of the player to 480i and go through the Coax RF connection. Previously it was set at 1080i and would not allow access to the 16:9 option. But it works fine. ***** Per added instruction in the 2nd post, I disconnected the HDMI output and the satellite inputs and connected COAX RF, but found I still couldn't access the 16:9 aspect ratio.. After checking the manual to figure out how to change the resolution (had never needed to try this before), the only section I could find that mentioned changing resolution was under Progressive Scan (component cable output).. So I went ahead and connected the component cables and connect to the TV.. Changed the resolution to 480 (RES button is 2nd from right on bottom row of the remote) and proceed with the hack... Had to also manually change Option 4 to 0f as it didn't change when Option 5 was changed (see photos in web link for first post). Powered off and on and now had region 0. Put everything back to normal and noticed even with the HDMI output and satellite input connected, I found I could still change the resolution on the recorder to 480 and if I did, I could still access the 16:9 aspect ratio. So, only thing needed is to change the resolution via the remote.. Cables, inputs and outputs DO NOT need to be changed... I had tried this more than a year ago when I first got the recorder and even tried calling LG tech support for help in accessing the TV Aspect setting (only told them it was greyed out and didn't think it should be).. Even LG told me the only way I could access it was to disconnect HDMI output and connect regular COAX input and output... and, it still didn't work..

An easier way to access the options screen on the RC199H (easier than TV Aspect>16:9>1397139 method), per the US service manual, is to press Record + Play buttons on the unit console. This precludes the need to switch out of 1080i resolution mode before accessing the screen. It has worked on my units. |
