Mine was not region free from Future shop Found this site http://www.area450.co.uk/lg5083hack.htm and http://lgregionfree.tripod.com/2005/menu1.htm (choose the LHC or 5000 model) and http://www.regionfreedvd.net/player/lg.html I followed their instructions on burning a disk with their information on it. When I powered up the dvd player with the disk in I followed the instructions to set regin free and it worked! | |||

I bought mine at future shop and I follow the hack Region code posted by Paulusb, May 24 2005 I just want you to know that it works! I used a CD-RW to burn the directory and then when prompted I pressed 0, then enter and then I turned it off. Camilo Montreal | |||

Works perfectly. My LDA-530 (Purchased from Future Shop in Mar 06), now plays British DVDs with no hassle. Download the following file, burn to a CD-R, stick it in the player. An LG maintenance menu will pop up asking you to enter the new region code on the remote (0-6). Type '0' (this indicates region-free). The menu instructs you to hit pause to save the change. Eject the disc and turn your player off and on again. Simple as that. This should be a safe "hack" too, because it does not modify or upgrade the firmware, it seems to just allow you access to a built-in menu that is normally inaccessible. You can change the region as many times as you want, too. Doing a factory reset to the player may set this back to original region, so keep the region-changing disc handy. http://lgregionfree.tripod.com/2005/Hacks/5000.zip | |||
