Region Free can be set via the remote control. 1. Remove disc and turn on DVD. 1. Wait until the message "no disc" appears 2. Press PAUSE 3. enter 314159 4. a Menu with the region code set page should appear. 5. Press 0 for region-free - multi region (1 for region 1, 2 for region 2, etc...) 6. Press PAUSE on the remote control again. 7. Power off the player for 5 seconds. 8. Power on the player. | |||

Another way: Open the tray, press '0' three times. Menue "Region Management Test Mode" appears. Now you can enter code 0. | |||

Firmware Mode and Info: There is some sort of editor for EEPROM options shown after factory reset code. This code was from other LG model hack. 1. Reboot the player without any disc inserted (open disc tray) 2. Press STOP 3. Press PAUSE 4. Press 1,4,7,2 5. Use LEFT/RIGHT to navigate 6. Press NUMBERS to brick your player. The DVD Player DK142 (TH, China) can be updated to DK141 original (LG Indonesia) PCB and chipsets, features are the same. Check the player "Model ID": a. Make sure there is no disc inside b. Go to SETUP/DISPLAY/TV Aspect and highlight 16:9 c. Press sequentially: 1, 3, 9 ,7, 1, 3, 9, ENTER d. A system information page will appear (note: factory defaults will be restored) 2. Rename the firmware file to "<player_model_id>.MIH" 3. Burn the "LG_DVD" folder on a CD-R/RW at the minimum burn speed 4. Load the disc in the player and follow the on-screen instructions 5. The upgrade process takes up to 2 minutes. When finished, the player will reboot 6. Restore factory defaults (see step 1) There are many tools to change default osd language, background, screensaver etc. for thouse player just Google MT1389FE ( eg.: MTKReMaker023b5.zip ...)
