This machine responds to the popular "MontBlanc" technique. Create a blank file called "MontBlanc.DVD" (case sensitive) containing just the four bytes "17, 17, 8C, 00." Burn this file to an otherwise blank CD-R or CD-RW (must be a CD, not a DVD) with the following directory structure: "\Violet0000\Rubicon" The "MontBlanc.DVD" file should be placed in the "Rubicon" directory. The CD produced must be ISO Level 1 with Joliet extensions in order to work; on GNU-Linux machines this can be achieved using genisoimage with appropriate command line parameters. Insert the disc in the player, then power off the player and back on again. If successful, a blue screen will appear containing options to set the DVD region number. For region-free operation, set this number to 0 and then press pause to save settings and exit. The machine will now play all DVDs. This technique will not enable you to change the Blu-Ray region setting. | |||
