I thought Id have one last go at making this machine region free before giving it away (cant be doing with this single region rubbish). As a last resort I thought Id try a hack for another Grundig & looked on this site at the hacks for the Grundig 220. The first hack which says about holding the open/close button simultaneously with the stop & skip forward buttons for 3-5 seconds (apart from being a little awkward) didnt seem to do anything - no hidden menu appeared - so I moved on to the next one ... The next hack said 'Crown CDV1100' which seemed a little odd under the Grundig 220 listing but never mind. Anyway, I opened the DVD drawer, put a region 1 disc onto the tray (leaving it open)& entered 9 8 1 7 very slowly ... I pressed the 'select' button expecting a menu or something to come up so I could 'toggle' to region 9, but nothing happened. HOWEVER ... when I closed the drawer, the region 1 disc played!
