After searching the internet endlessly trying to find a region code hack for my Grundig GDR 4500, I relented and called Grundig directly. I told the representative that after plugging in the DVD recorder for the first time, it failed to play discs from my region (Region 4). The Grundig rep then gave me the following code to unlock the DVD recorder: Use the remote control for the following steps. 1 - Press "SET UP". 2 - Scroll down to 'System Setup - Playback'. 3 - Highlight 'TV aspect ratio'. 4 - Press 'OK'. 5 - Enter the code "860014" using the numeric pad. 6 - Press the 'Camera Angle' button (has picture of a camera on it) 3 times. 7 - Press "SET UP" (This will exit from the Set Up menu). 8 - Press "SET UP" again. 9 - Scroll down to 'System Setup - Playback'. You should now see a drop-down menu called 'Region Code'. Select the region you wish to use (All, First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth or Sixth). 10 - When you have selected the region ("All" to make the player region-free) you require, press "SET UP" again. You're now free to play DVDs from anywhere in the world! Hope this is of some assistance. Like I said, I got it from the Grundig rep over the phone... so it will work. Fact. | |||
