Using the remote: 1) Press Open 2) Press Setup 3) When the setup screen comes up, highlight the Custom menu 4) Press 3,3,3,3 5) A "Secret1" menu will come up with the selectable options 0-6, these are the region codes. Select the appropriate region code or select 0 to set it to be region free. | |||

NTSC/PAL selection: With the disc tray open, press the "display" key on the remote. Doing this will cycle you through three choices: NTSC, PAL, and auto-selection. This doesn't do standards conversion, so you will need a converter or multistandard TV. | |||

This hack worked succesfully on the Go Video DVP 853 which is an almost identical model to DVP 855 and 850. Use the remote control: Power on Open disc drawer (eject) Press "setup" Highlight "custom" at bottom of menu Use code 3 3 3 3 on your remote Menu will show called "Secret1" Choose your region on right (0-6) Use "0" if you want to be region free press "enter" then "setup" | |||
