- press OPEN - press CLEAR - key in 1, followed by 3, then 6, then 9, and finally 0 - press the STANDBY button (the disc tray will shut and the player will switch off) - press the STANDBY button (the player wakes up again) NOTE: Nothing actually appears on screen when you perform this hack, but it is very simple to check that the hack has been accepted by the player. Press SETUP followed by 1, then 3, then 7, and then 9 and the firmware information appears on screen, together with the region code at the bottom (another method is to press SETUP, then highlight the preferences icon and press 1, 3, 7, 9 : the region code of the machine pops up on the screen). You can also set the unit to playback just one specific region if you so choose, by replacing the "0" at the end of the sequence of numeric button pushes at the third step above with the relevant region code number - i.e. for just Region 1 disc playback (useful for RCE encoded discs) the sequence becomes 1, 3, 6, 9, 1; for Region 2 only playback key in 1, 3, 6, 9, 2 at step three and so on. | |||
