I got this hack from www.dse.com.au and searched for G1608 and this is my experience of applying it. * Open disc tray. * Press 2812 using the remote control unit, you should see four dashes near the top left of the screen. If you see what look likes a small "stop" icon near the top left of the screen close and re-open the disc tray and re-enter 2812. You should now see a menu with three items on it. * Menu item 1 - Select region 9 for multiregion. * Menu item 2 - Toggle off Macrovision using the ok key. * Menu item 3 - This option is for turning on/off SVCD. I needed a DVD player where I could turn off Macrovision since the only way I can connect a DVD player to my old TV that only has an RF (antenna) input is via my VHS vcr player. And for those people who have tried to connect a DVD player with Macroviosn enabled via a VHS vcr player Macrovision wrecks the image. I highly recommend this DVD player as it can play scratchy rental DVD's and the most blemished DVD's almost always without a hitch. Previously I had two Mustek V56L-5E's both I returned since both suttered and paused on the most minor of blemished discs. DSE stands for Dick Smith Electronics which is an electronics enthusiasts outlet in Australia and New Zealand. |
