	1) open dvd tray 2) press "setup" on remote 3) press left arrow once to highlight "preference" 4) press 1,3,8,9 on remote 5) use up and down arrow to choose desired region

	I can verify that the Region Free hack listed works fine as listed.

	The above hack doesn't work on newer DS-5701 models. There is no "preference" menu when you press the left arrow once.

	The DVD player I referred to in my previous post did allow for the region change per the instructions (purchased on Black Friday of last year). However, as noted above, I had a rolling b/w picture with no sound. Then I looked at ALL comments on the particular model and discovered that the mode had to be changed from "Multi" to NTSC. Anyone with difficulties like mine would be well advised to read ALL information available on this website!

	If the hack listed above doesn't work, it's because you have the newer models. To unlock the region code on the new models: 1) power up the DVD. 2) press "open/close" key to open the tray (leave tray open). 3) press sequence 9735. A hidden region menu will appear. Select "Region 0" (region free). Select "Exit Setup" and press the "Play" key to exit. This hack work perfectly on mine.
