the m281 is supposed to be multi-regional straight out of the box, but the one we bought was region locked (it wouldn't play region4 australian DVDs. a problem since we live in australia) out of desperation, we tried this hack, and it appears to have worked. the player said "ok" as per the hack instructions below,.. so yeah, if u have the same problem that we had, give this a whirl. It seems to have worked for us:Region code hack posted by Alejandro Ramirez Acosta at July 27 2002: To change to Multiregion : - press "Open" in the remote, the dvd will open the tray and the screen must show the word "Open" in the upper left corner. - Inmediatly when the "Open" word disapear, press 01060 in the remote. - The last digit is the region that you want : Ex : region 4 : 01064 region 1 : 01061 Multiregion : 01060 If the above was done correctly the screen must show the word "Ok", if this doesn´t apear repeat all the procedure again. When in your screen apear the word "Ok" press the "Close" button in your remote. | |||
