Yep it is working if you follow steves instructions from May 14th 2005. I have used it with DVD's from Region, 1, 2, 4, 6 Switch on the machine but don't put a disc in. On remote control, press set up. Press RIGHT arrow 3 times. Key in the number 9653. Select region 0. Press set up again to exit. | |||

OK, my apologies to Steve and Lars, their hack might work on the typical 6070, but I apparently have a different one! I eventually called the company (in California, (909) 869-6600 ext.11 for customer services!), and the young lady who answered the phone was only to glad to help. Apparently Steve's type of 6070 displays a horizontal menu bar when you press Set Up on the remote (this is the typical 6070). Mine displays a vertical four option menu down the left side of the Set Up screen. If this is what yours does, then once you have pressed Set Up on the remote, press the down arrow twice to come to the "Custom Set Up" option. Then you simply punch in the code 9653, and the custom set up options are replaced by some text in the middle of the screen, the first line of which should be "Region Code 1". If you press the down arrow once, you change the Region code to 0. If you so desire, you can press the up arrow and you'll get 2-6. Press set up again to exit, and bingo. This hack works with the Axion 16-3903 sold exclusively by Radio Shack with similar features to the AXN 6070. After attempting variations of the AXN 6070 hacks, these are the steps that worked for my Radio Shack 16-3903: 1) Open the DVD Door and turn on the power, 2) Using the Remote Control, enter 9653 and a service page will appear with a region code menu, 3) Use Up/Down buttons on the remote to change region Codes, 4) Set to 0 (zero) for multi-region, by highlighting the 0 (zero) and hitting <Enter> on the remote, 5) Hit the <set-up> button to exit from the service page. | |||

Jamster's hack works with Rado Shack model 16-3903. Thanks Jamster! Open the DVD tray, power on, Enter 9653 on the remote, Select region zero (or other if desired), press "setup" to exit. Pronto! | |||

This hack also works great with Axion AXN-6079 (same model as AXN-6070 but with 2 LCD screens). As mentioned before, power on the DVD unit with no disc inserted, then with remote control select setup. Right arrow 3 times and insert code 9653 pressing the keys on remote control. In the menu select region code 0 and then press setup again to confirm your selection. This was sucessfully tested with DVD regions 4, 3, 2. | |||

Here are the steps to make a Radio Shack Accurian 16-136 (manufactured by Axion) portable DVD player region free. 1) Turn on the DVD player without a DVD inside the player. 2) Press the SETUP button on the remote control (a "Setup" screen will appear). 3) Use the right/left arrow keys to navigate to the "Preference Page". 4) Next use the up/down arrow keys navigate down to the "Disc Menu". 5) Enter the code 9653 using the remote numeric keypad. 6) A screen will then be shown that has the unit model number, the date and time the unit was manufactured, and the region code. 7) Use the up/down arrow keys to change the region or set it to "0" for region free. 8) Press the enter button to save the changes. 9) Press the SETUP button on the remote to exit the "Setup" menus. | |||

I just got a Axion PDVD712TA bought in France and I can use the hack above to get to the screen that shows the model, date, time and region code now, set at 2. But the arrow keys on the remote don't do anything and I can't figure out a way to change the region code. Any ideas? Very grateful for any help | |||
