PostRegion code hack posted by Gunslinger, December 29 2003:

Press "Eject"
keep the tray out
press "Setup"
go to "preference page"
go to "Country region"
press 1379

Now the region code menu appears. Change it to other values by pressing "up" and "down" keys on the remote. Select 0 for "all-region"

Enjoy

Tested hack. Does not appear to work, it gets to a menu that says: Region: 1. I cannot seem to change that value.

I purchased the Aspire Digital AD-900 from Future Shop today ($59.99 after rebate). With the unit straight out of the box (set for Region 1), I applied the above hack by Gunslinger, reached the region code menu and had no problem cycling through the region codes 0 through 6 using the up/down buttons. I left it at Region 0, pressed ENTER, followed by RETURN.

When I then tested a Region 2 PAL DVD, the DVD played but the picture was black and white and scrolled. This was due to the fact that the factory default setting of the AD-900 for TV TYPE is AUTO/Multi, causing the DVD to play back in PAL on my NTSC TV. By going into System Setup/Preference Page, I set TV TYPE to NTSC and, voila, my movie played perfectly.

For those who have difficulties, it may help to reset the unit to the factory's original default settings and start over again.

Hope this helps.

Frank

Yah, sorry my mistake I think I forgot to eject the tray before applying the hack - went to region 0 just fine. I can't find a non-region 1 dvd at the moment to test, but the previous poster confirmed it works. It is technically $49.99 though, so if you paid $59 at futureshop, bring it back and quote the boxing week ad.
