This is only true for EARLY 600A's. Late models (last year) have been changed. Although you can get the early ROM's, early models had some problems with some DVD's, and the later ROMS fixed that problem and eliminated this 'feature'. | |||

For this player there is NO need for the firmware with the loopholes menu. The hacked versions of the newer firmware are much better. I myself went from having loopholes to no loopholes. The new hacked firmwares solve the many bugs of the older firmwares with the loopholes, but maintain RCE-compatible region free and Macrovision free status. Check out darrenk's website listed below. Actually, my Apex is DUAL BOOT, with region 1 Macrovision free and region 0 RCE-compatible Macrovision free. I went dual boot since the latter firmware disallows usage of the analogue output on my particular machine. It works fine with different chipsets though. | |||

All the AD600A information that was at http://www.dvd-wizards.com/darrenk/ has now moved to http://www.nerd-out.com/darrenk The hack mentioned below using a CDR to upgrade will only work on a very small number of units which came with a FLASH ROM installed, most came with an OTP ROM instead. | |||
