This combo unit is the same as the LG 5000 series. Download the 5000.zip file from lgregionfree.tripod.com, and burn to a CDR the file+directory structure as instructed in the zip file. Put the CDR in the player, and a blue screen will appear saying: Code: __ Current Region: 1 To make the player region free, type in "0", and then hit the pause button. Power off/on the DVD player, and its now region free! Verified usage with a Region 2 disc. | |||

The previously posted hacks were close, but both had issues. 1st Hack (2005) worked BUT I had to burn the file and folders to a DVD-R, a CD-R did not work. Also the link provided was no longer valid. Try aiwaownersnetwork.tripod.com When you burn the disc name it LG5000. Folder RMTM0000 at top level, scarlet next level, kpjc file inside scarlet. Let the player read the disk, input 0 from remote, hit pause, then turn off. Worked beautifully. 2nd Hack (2007) - I could never get the 314159 sequence with the remote to work, but the second one that shows you the firmware did work | |||
