Description (from the manufacturer site)
The WinTV-D board accepts both standard Analog broadcasts, as well
as HDTV signals. The HDTV signals are downsized to 480i interlaced.

480i is a so-called "standard definition" digital format.
1080i is one of the "high definition" digital formats.
There are 18 allowed formats in all
for more background, there is a white paper on our web site.

The WinTV-D converts all 18 formats to 480i so they can be easily
moved across the PCI bus in your PC over to your graphics card for
display on your PC monitor. It is also easy and convenient for us to
convert the 480i to S-Video, so you can see the show on an existing
large-screen analog TV.

Feature
What kind of main capture features it supports
Analog VideoIn = Analog composite or/and SVHS video input
Video Card = If it is a Video Card/Graphic Card
Tv Tuner = Built-In TV-Tuner
Digital TV = Built-In Digital TV-Tuner
DV/Firewire = DV/Firewire/i.Link input
DV Converter = Analog composite or/and SVHS video input and converts to DV video
