I used the hack found on http://www.selen.org/sonydvd.html that has been mentioned on numerous other models. I guess the codes work with any other type of programmable remote or PDA on this model as well. The player doesn't show "SUCCESS" when it turns on after the first set of codes is transmitted. It did say "TIMER: OK" or something like it when the second set of codes were transmitted and it went into standby again. My player was region 2 but I have successfully played region 3 discs as well after the hack was applied.

Yesterday I made my new RDR-HX750 code free with this Remote Controll program on my old iPAQ:

http://rapidshare.com/files/12586334/RC1_825.rar

Just follow these steps:
Turn player to DVD mode and switch off player (standby) with NO DVD inserted
Press 1 on NoviiRemote
Press 2 on NoviiRemote
Press 3 on NoviiRemote
Press 4 on NoviiRemote
Press 5 on NoviiRemote
Player turns on
Press 1 on NoviiRemote
Press 2 on NoviiRemote
Press 3 on NoviiRemote
Press 4 on NoviiRemote
Press 5 on NoviiRemote
Player shows "T:imer OK" on the display and turns off
Turn player on again, after that you can verify your firmware setting:
1. System Menu
2. Settings
3. Audio output
4. Dolby output
5. Just mark "Dolby Digital"
6. Press Angle button

If successful your code region should be "14"

Have Fun :)

I'd been searching for a hack for my RDRHX750 for a while and finally found one that works - there was a bit of trial and error but i got there in the end....i used a One For All Remote control model URC 7555 to perform the hack.

Like some of the hacks for the HX710, for the HX750 you are required to assign machine codes to keys 1,2,3,4 and 5 - this is dead easy - its really important to change the command mode of your DVD recorder to DVD1 however or else the hack WONT work! You can find easy instructions on how to do this on page 123 - 126 of your recorder manual - if you dont have the manual just download one from sony and search under ''options'' - the method is listed here.

First - Prepare the Remote - One-For-All:
1. Select DVD button on remote
2. Hold MAGIC button until the LED blinks twice
3. Enter device code 0533 (note, you'll need to be in command mode 1 as mentioned above for the 0533 code to work, if it doesnt work you're not in command mode 1 and you cant proceed!! - see above for changing command mode!

Next, you need to program buttons 1..5 with the following codes:
1 = 189, 2 = 255, 3 = 095, 4 = 221, 5 = 079

To program the buttons, do the following:
1. Hold MAGIC button until the LED blinks twice
2. Press 994 (LED blinks twice) 994 simply tells the remote that you will be programming number keys with machine codes and is a VITAL step that must be performed before programming each number key...
3. Press MAGIC key once, do not hold it down like in the previous step, the LED should blink only ONCE!!
4. The URC 7555 requires the following changes to be made to the codes listed above so key these in EXACTLY!

(You'll know they have been accepted as the LED will blink twice as it did above - if it doesnt blink twice then you have made a mistake - * see below for possible explanation.)

Key 1 - 001891
5. Repeat steps 2 and 3
Key 2 - 002552
6. Repeat steps 2 and 3
Key 3 - 000953
7.Repeat steps 2 and 3
Key 4 - 002214
8. Repeat steps 2 and 3
Key 5 - 000795

NOTE * Different One For All remotes will only require the codes as listed above - eg - 1 = 189, 2 = 255, 3 = 095, 4 = 221, 5 = 079 - however the URC 7555 and probably other models require a minimum of 6 digits to enable the remote to accept the machine code changes. If the above 6 digit method does not work for you then try adding just a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 to the end of the machine codes - eg - 189 becomes 1891, 255 becomes 2552, 095 becomes 0953, 221 becomes 2214, 079 becomes 0795.

When the above is done and done exactly as above press DVD again on the remote and you should be good to go...power down the dvd player into standby mode, make sure there is no DVD in the tray...point the remote at the recorder and push keys 1 through 5 pausing for maybe a second or two inbetween keys - make sure the DVD icon lights up inbetween pushes - i pushed and held the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 keys for maybe a second before waiting a secong and then proceeding to the next key - after you push key 5 the machine should power up - let it power up fully and then press the 1 through 5 keys again as you have just done - you should see a message that says T:IMER OK and the machine should power down again. Power up normaly and you will have a fully region free machine!

Works perfectly but remember to have the recorder in command mode DVD1 or else it wont work at all!!

Good luck!
