This is a pretty standard hack for Sony; I did it using my Kameleon 6 but it should work as long as you can assign codes to individual keys on your one-4-all remote. 1. Hold down magic key (top hat)until rabbit comes out 2. Select device set 3. Press DVD button 4. Input code 0533 5. press ok, you have now set the standard DVD remote code Program buttons 1-5 with the following codes: 1. 00189 2. 00255 3. 00095 4. 00221 6. 00079 On the Kameleon you do this by..... 1. Hold down the magic key untill the rabbit comes out 2. Select key magic 3. Press DVD icon 4. Press magic key 5. Enter the 5 digit code from above 6. Press the corresponding button to program that individual key with that code 7. Repeat steps 1 to 6 for all 5 keys Try your new code: 1. Remove any disks and put player into standby 2. Press 1 then 2 then 3 then 4 then 5 and success should be displayed on the LCD and the unit will power up 3. Not sure if this step is needed but again press 1 then 2 then 3 then 4 then 5 and the player shuts down Et voila one heck of a multi region DVD player.

Tried the hack, didn't work on my player. Is it because it's a region 1 original player. Heard that region 1 can't be hacked to play other region media.

I bought a kameleon off ebay for £20 It didnt work. It said success, but it still says "playback prohibited by regional area" or something when I'm trying to watch a region 1 Any ideas?

The hack reported by wowpowwowpow worked for me. I used another One-For-All remote (URC 6131n) instead of the URC 2426 and for the "Magic" key (which mine doesn't have) I used the "Set" key. Those were the only differences and the hack went off without a hitch and included the "Success" greeting at the end. My unit now plays regions 1 and 2. It might be of interest to note that with this same method and with the same remote, I was able to unlock a Panasonic DMR-EZ25 last year. The groups of numbers were different but essentially the method is the same. Quite imprerssive.

I used an older URC-7562 which only accepts 3 digits, not 4 or 5. So my version for the DVP-NS708H was: FIRST: 1. select dvd device on remote 2. hold magic button until the DVD button blinks twice 3. enter device code 0533 Test success by switching the DVD player on and of over the remote. SECOND: Switch player to standby. Looks as if it was completely of, not LED or anything. The 3-digit versions of the codes are 189 255 095 221 079 1. hold magic button until the DVD button blinks twice 2. press 994 3. press magic (short) 4. enter 3 digit code 5. press button (1..5) where to program it 6. repeat steps 1 to 5 for all keys, using the codes in brackets. THIRD: 1. Remove any disks and put player into standby 2. Press 1 then 2 then 3 then 4 then 5 and success should be displayed on the LCD and the unit will power up 3. Again press 1 then 2 then 3 then 4 then 5 and the player shuts down. (Or may shut down then power up, I forget.) It was great to finally see 'SUCCESS' on the LED of the player after spending more than an hour or two trying different variants of what's described above to no avail. |
