This hack worked for me on my BDPS580. As a heads up to those of you hacking sony dvd players, make sure that your other sony devices such as your play station 3 and playstation 2 etc,.... are all unplugged before doing the hack. When I first tried it with a one for all 7562 remote, the hack didn't work, but once I unplugged my other sony things all apart from the tv and the dvd player the hack worked on the first try. It may seem obvious to others out there that you need to have the other sony devices unplugged but I didn't think of it at the time. Hope this helps, Becca | |||

Region free BDP-S580 (same as 350 hack posted by mao141 - thanks) for DVD playback only, BD untested. UK unit only tested. Full procedure for a oneforall remote is as follows: 1. Press DVD 2. Hold the magic button until the DVD button flashes twice. 3. Press 0533 4. Hold the magic button until it flashes twice. 5. Press 994 6. Press Magic Key (don't hold) 7. Press 00189 (if your oneforall remote uses 4 digit or 3 digit codes, use less leading zeros) 8. Press 1 ( this sets it to key 1 - it flashes twice ) 9. Hold the magic button until it flashes twice. 10. Press 994 11. Press Magic Key (don't hold) 12. Press 00255 13. Press 2 ( this sets it to key 2 - it flashes twice ) 14. Hold the magic button until it flashes twice. 15. Press 994 16. Press Magic Key (don't hold) 17. Press 00095 18. Press 3 ( this sets it to key 3 - it flashes twice ) 19. Hold the magic button until it flashes twice. 20. Press 994 21. Press Magic Key (don't hold) 22. Press 00221 23. Press 4 ( this sets it to key 4 - it flashes twice ) 24. Hold the magic button until it flashes twice. 25. Press 994 26. Press Magic Key (don't hold) 27. Press 00079 28. Press 5 ( this sets it to key 5 - it flashes twice ) The remote is now programmed and ready to use, to make the BDP-S580 region free: 1. Use the remote that came with the player to bring the player out of standby, make sure there isn't a disc in it. 2. Press 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 on the oneforall remote. The 24p light will start flashing. (Centre light) 3. Put the player back into standby with the Sony remote. 4. Hard reboot machine, if necessary,(remove power)to prevent the 24p light flashing indefinitely. 5. Next time you turn on the player it will be region free for DVD playback. This worked for me, but obviously I accept no liability for anyone who tries it on their machine. | |||

Since the link to the webpage may not be working here is How to make your BDPS580 OR BDPS350 etc, MULTI REGION using a one for all 7562 or 3440 remote control. I personally used a One For All 7562 remote control for this, with new batteries installed:::::: 1. Press DVD 2. Hold the magic button until the DVD button flashes twice. 3. Press 000533 4. Hold the magic button until the DVD button flashes twice. 5. Press 994 6. Press Magic Key (don't hold) 7. Press 001891 (this sets key 1 the DVD button flashes twice) 8. Hold the magic button until the DVD button flashes twice. 9. Press 994 10. Press Magic Key (don't hold) 11. Press 002552 (this sets key 2 the DVD button flashes twice) 12. Hold the magic button until the DVD button flashes twice. 13. Press 994 14. Press Magic Key (don't hold) 15. Press 000953 (this sets key 3 the DVD button flashes twice) 16. Hold the magic button until the DVD button flashes twice. 17. Press 994 18. Press Magic Key (don't hold) 19. Press 002214 (this sets key 4 the DVD button flashes twice) 20. Press 000795 (this sets key 5 the DVD button flashes twice) Done - the remote is now programmed and ready to use Quote: 1. Now to make your player region free use the Sony remote that came with the player to bring it out of standby and wait while HOME is displayed 2. Make sure there isn't a disc in the machine. 3. Now on the OneforAll remote press 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (The blue 24p light on the player will start flashing) 4. Put the player back into standby with the Sony remote 5. Thats it, the next time you turn on the player it will be region free for DVD playback The original posting of this hack is from avforums. This hack works using a One For All 7562 remote or the One For All URC-3440 remote. It works on the Sony BDPS580 and the Sony BDPS350, however it may work on the other BDPS models too, it definitely works on the S580 (the model I own). IMPORTANT::::: Remember to unplug your other Sony devices (apart from the TV) as the hack didn't work for me as stated in my previous post when I had all my sony stuff connected to the mains. Once I unplugged everything else leaving just the dvd player and tv on this hack worked fine on the first go!!! PLEASE NOTE:: full credit for this information goes to the people on AVforums.com uk.
