This hack is the same as the p191 samsung. Turn on the unit with no disc in the unit. The No Disc message should be visible Press the following keys in this sequence Repeat (not the A-B Repeat, just the plain Repeat) Fast rewind button (just below the Disc Menu button) Play button Down button Down button Right Button The number 0 should now appear towards the left of the screen. Open then close the disc draw Turn off the unit and then on again. You should now be able to play DVDs from any region | |||

With no disc in the tray, turn the power on. On the samsung screen it will say "no disc" Grab the remote and press: -repeat -fast rewind -next chapter -fast forward -previous chapter -play A grid should appear on the screen with numbers in boxes, some highlighted, some not. Using the arrow keys and the enter key, move around and turn off all the boxes except the one with a number 9 in it. Press play to validate the changes. Your player will save and turn off. When you turn it back on, it should play DVDs from any region. | |||

The above mentioned hacks did not work for me but I've tried the one posted for DVD-P191 by bjorninn and it worked for my region 2 - player. only it didn't show the number '9' in the left corner of the screen, but '0' As stands for region "0" = region free. It works fine on my region 1, 2 and 4 dvd's this is wat was posted by Bjorninn 1. Turn player on with without disc in tray. 2. Wait until "no disc" appears on TV screen 3. Press "repeat" (not "repeat A-B"!) on remote. 4. Press in sequence following keys: Region 2 players: FF, FR, FF, UP, DOWN Region 3 players: FF, PLAY, FR, UP, LEFT Region 4 players: FR, PLAY, DOWN, DOWN, RIGHT Region 5 players: FF, UP, DOWN, STOP, RIGHT Region 6 players: LEFT, RIGHT, RIGHT, PLAY, LEFT Number "9" must appear in upper left corner of TV screen, that means that sequence was successful and player is now region free. If it does not appear turn repeat from beginning. After successful sequence turn player off and on again just in case. Just be sure you know what region your player is before you begin | |||

Be careful with the above that says remove all boxes except 9. I did not write my code down and player would not work. I am region 4. The following code worked for mine, it now plays region 2 and 4, I haven't tried any other disks. This is from the DVD-P191. 1,8,10,19,21 Hope this helps. | |||

Hi there, I have a region 2 version of the 510. Like jibble i didn't write down the matrix numbers when i did the 'turn everything off except the nine' (i know, should have done it) and it only played region 1 discs from that moment on. I turned on the 2 and now it plays region 2 also but it's like it has affected the image quality. Does anyone know the original matrix numbers for region 2? Thanks in advance!! | |||

Hi Habu7 I tried it and wrote down my original code before deleting numbers. Mine is a region 2 and the original code is: 2,8,9,10,17,19,22 Hope this works for you. I followed the hack posted by Rihedor 24 June 2010 and this worked for me. | |||

Success! Wow was that EZ.... Samsung DVD-550, region 2 (bought on amazon.it, but it shipped from Germany, October 10, 2011) Thanks to rihedor interpreting bjorninn, the following worked: (now plays region 1, 2 dvd's ) 1. Turn player on with without disc in tray. 2. Wait until "no disc" appears on TV screen 3. Press "repeat" (not "repeat A-B"!) on remote. 4. Press in sequence following keys: Region 2 players: FF, FR, FF, UP, DOWN Number "0" appears briefly in upper left corner of TV screen, that means that sequence was successful and player is now region free. I used the power button on the remote to turn off, then pulled plug for 1minute, then plugged in and played DVDs that moments previous would not play. Grazie Mille! | |||
