SubExtractor converts subtitles from DVDs and PGS (Bluray .sup) files into Advanced Substation Alpha (ASS) or SRT text format using a simple OCR. Extract subs from (non-encrypted, on hard drive) DVDs and convert to Advanced Substation Alpha format. It can also convert sup (PGS) and sub/idx formats to same. "I wrote this because I hate the blocky, too-high-on-the-screen look of regular DVD subtitles and wanted to re-encode my DVD collection in h264/aac/assa in an mkv container." Might require DGIndex, VLC, Aegisub.

Feature: Option on OCR dialog to wait for Enter key before taking manually typed OCR matches (to allow multi-key character entry)
Feature: Option on Options dialog to not automatically remove spaces before ?!;: characters (French keeps such spaces, English does not)
Fix: Added several Greek characters to the "do not split automatically" lists because of found OCR errors
2 unfinished features: a simple install program and large-font version (for high PPI monitors) are in the source code now but not active yet.

The most accurate OCR sub ripper by a mile, even gets italics right! Last version is from 2013, still works on Win10 X64. Just wish it was still being developed, as there's room for improvement and the GUI looks very outdated.

I have to say that this has one of the quickest and best OCR editors that I have used so far (and I've used many). Easy to use, very accurate results. My new favorite, I love it! It's a 10/10 for me.
