DivX to VCD MPEG All-In-One Guide

This guide describes a perfect DivX -> VCD conversion. Including audio extraction to keep the audio synched when converting usually caused by Variable Audio Bitrate, splitting and burning. For this guide I used the movie "Ghost in the Shell" which I ripped to a 600mb big DivX file and it is about 80 minutes long.

Configuring TMPGEnc for high-quality, DVD-compliant MPEG-2

The settings I will use in this guide are for DVD MPEG-2. If you're encoding video for web distribution, VCD, SVCD, etc., you will need to make some changes. I have little experience with those formats, but if you do a quick search on the web you'll find several sites with information about them. Most of the advice and information in this guide applies to all MPEG formats and encoders, though.

MSU Lossless Codecs Comparison

The name of this video codec category declares full quality losses absence - the decompressed video stream should be completely identical to original. Output quality is same for all codecs. Absolute absence of losses is a very strong requirement, therefore it is often hard to achieve compression ratios above 3:1. Some of the tested codecs have an opportunity of work in "lossy" mode; it allows to reach considerably higher compression degree with rather small losses of quality. However, only "fully lossless" mode is considered in the current comparison. The only parameter of comparison is the compression level.
