| I have had this drive for a couple of months now and I think that it has been great. I have been burning DVDs and a few CDs too almost every day and it hasn't failed once. I have only tried DVDs at 4x and it has been burning that speed too, so I dont know how it would work with other DVD-speeds. When I read the infotool in Nero it says the drive can't read DVD+R and DVD+RW, inspite of this, I have had no problems reading those DVDs with the drive, I have done it several times and also with several different markets (fuji, tdk, imitation, traxdata). | I'm using this drive to burn DVD-R only (have a separate fast burner for CD-Rs). So far I have only 50% success with DVD-R media. It seems that this burner likes only high-end branded media; medium to low-end non-brand media FAILS! Most of the failed discs plays OK on my DVD Player, but if you try to read (or copy) these discs back to the PC (on the 0402P drive) one of the files fails to copy as a result of a bad sector on the media. Recomandation: be sure to turn on "verify" when you burn - otherwise you may not be aware that you have a failed media! Comments posted by Satisfaction from Other, November 25, 2003. | Have had drive for six months have not had any problems. only the usual compatability with certain dvd players not liking certain discs. i have a panasonic dv32 and a panasonic s35 and have had no problems whatsoever in either player,but friends have cheap nasty £50 play anything players and they wont play!!! | I bought this drive 3 weeks ago! And the price is unbeatable around USD$160 at Hong Kong. It is 100% made in Japan! Software is just OK! No DVD disc attached! Only One CDR attached with the package! The Ausu has updated their firmware to v1.3 . However, Pioneer has been up to v1.33 already! For some poor quality DVD-R discs, the speed is only 1x . I hear that someone can update it to pioneer firmware and burn those poor quality DVD-R at 2x! Anyway, it is a good drive. PC World.com gave 4.5 out of 5 stars for this Burner! | This seems to be a nice drive but not serving my purpose yet I have endless problems with this drive not being recognized by primo dvd and this is the main prog I need to backup my ps2 dvds tried nero but they dont work on the ps2 after copy. | This drive has been great. Picked it up from Newegg.com for $259. Burns Ritek G04s @4.3x, I haven't had any compatability issues with it. My only complaint is the complete lack of support from ASUS. There has not been a single firmware upgrade released since the drive came out and when I emailed ASUS last month they never replied. I believe that this drive may be a Pioneer A05/105, physically and on paper it is identical, but the computer recognizes it as an ASUS DRW-0402P, not a Pioneer, and the Pioneer firmware checker doesn't recognize it either so no dice on that. I am very happy with it, it is quiet, fast and reliable. Every disc I have burned has worked on my JVC XV-SA75GD DVD Player (except the DVD-RWs.) Overall, I highly recommend this drive.
