| The drive exceeded my expectations. Rated the drive a 9 because of it's Nero software and exceptional value in it's price range. I picked it up for $49. after a $30. rebate, an unbeatable deal. That's a good bit less then many OEM drives without any software. I was worried about problems with +R disks after reading posts from previous users here. I made sure I had the latest firmware and software updates for Nero then burned 3 +R disks without any problems. | I bought this a few months ago and have had 100% burn success using DVD+R and DVD+RW media (from reading other comments, I must be the lucky one). I haven't yet tried DVD DL. The only problem I've had was burning to cd-r at first. I upgraded firmware and now it burns those no problem. I'm running P4 1.8, WinXPSP2 Home, using Nero that was supplied with the drive. | So anyone else having this prolem? I updated the firmware to the most current version and still get either "write error" or a "invalid block address" whenever trying to burn. So far I was able to write fine to the dvdrw and I was able to burn a data disk to a dvd+r once, but I have ruined 22 dvd+r so far. I dont understand why it would let me burn one at all. Seems to fail at different points in the burning process. Im about to return this piece of garbage. The only returns on google for the invalid block address error I keep getting is with nero and a sony dvd burner. A few of the search results lead to forums telling your different things you can do such as change you IDE transfer from PIO to DMA or vice versa, yet everthing I have done is a failure. | Had trouble burning DVD+R media - about 40-50% success rate. Buffer overflow & bad block messages. Tried several different software packages, including the Cyberhome recommended NERO, which made no measurable difference. I am running a P4-3.0 w/512 RAM. Did not try other media, but decided (after a little more research)that if the drive had problems with +R media, I wasn't interested. | i recently purchased and installed this burner, with high hopes, you get what you pay for i guess. paid $99, will not burn dvd+r's at all, everytime has a write error with any software i have tried. writes excellent though to dvd-r, having figured it out after much trial and error(about 35 wasted dvd+r's).if anyone out there has any clue why this wont work please respond to me! the company offers NO HELP at all in their support, its all automated.
