This is a decent dvd burner. Go to Emprex and update to latest firmware (A091). Make sure you have adaptec aspi installed. I have burned cheap discs without any problems. They play on my stand alone dvd players. Comments posted by james1211 from United States, February 28, 2006. Rated this writer 8 of 10. |

Used to have all the problems that you were mentioning, but then moved to dvd-R sumvision gold discs - Told very low error rate. But still had problem when using Nero Software. The I halved the speed of the burning & all burning's have been perfect since. Curent problem is with trying to get the drive to read DVD+R RW disc's which I'd Burned on a Goodmans X-Pro DVD Recorder. My computer just freezes, and I have no choice but to reboot. Reading of all other types of disc's is fine, it may just be the RW ones. Comments posted by Denden from United Kingdom, June 13, 2005. Rated this writer 7 of 10. |

I purchased the I/O Magic IDVD16DD, which is a rebadged BTC 1016IM. With upgraded firmware (A07m)it is working fairly well. I've burned Teon DVD+R 8x (CMC-MAG-E01) and Maxell +R 4x (RICOHJPNR01) with no problem. Using DVDBITSET 1.08, I've set the book type on my DVD+Rs and have had no trouble in my APEX 1010W Dvd player or even without bitsetting on my RCA 8005N DVD Recorder/Player. I've had mixed results with TDK +R 8x (YUDEN000T02), though I haven't tried them again since I upgraded the firmware. Comments posted by DLO from United States, January 07, 2005. all dvds i burnt, had data errors. These Included: PS2 Games Xbox Games DVD Videos Data DVD's The Media i used was JVC dvd-r 4.7gb and Verbatim DVD+R x4compatible 4.7gb. May be a dual layer dvd writer, but if it dont write a single layer properly, then wats the point? (that was a retorical question :P) Comments posted by T!dus_Beta from United Kingdom, January 07, 2005. Rated this writer 1 of 10. |
