It doesn't white PRINCO 4x at more then 2x at all.
I was found in serious trouble with W2000, but as soon as i had changed it with WMP, everithing goes on the right way.
Best italian price is €60 for the bulk version(pinnacle sw included).

I have tis Writer testet with Verbatim 16x.
Very good.
He need ~ 6 Minuts (incl. Lead in/out)

i have used many dvd writers in my line of work and must say for the price of this drive (£59 PCworld) that this is one hell of a bargin. Had a couple of problems with the oem software (pinnical cd/dvd) messing a couple of disks up but uninstalled it amd all is well with everyother writing software. Does not seem to like Packard bell +RW when using oem but anyother disk is quality everytime

Writes my double layer RITEK D01's, and platinum DVD+R 8-speed, as well all my DVD+RW's so far. Unfortnately is doesn't allow booktype-changes....

Crap drive, wont recogninise my TDK r/w - in fact the drive tray jams when u put a r/w disk in. Sometimes the tray just wont open and i have to reboot even if no disk is in the drive. It sucessfully burnt one dvd-r but i had to turn the pc off and use a paperclip to get the dvd out of the tray - a piece of crap, i'm taking it back.

First dealings with DVD burners but this one has it all. Ordered on 10/31 from Newegg and was fully functional by 11/3 afternoon. Oem disc contained Win DVD software (not used) and Nero 6.3. Using DVD shrink 3.2, I've had no problems and dupped 5 titles to date. 16x read is smokin and the dual layer/dual format is a no brainer. I dont know what else you could want for under $70!!! I've used the Newegg ridata dvd-r media without any issues and near perfect copies which play nicely in my old Apex player. I'd rank this a 10 but I don't have the experience for comparisions expect Iomagic 8x drives. Get one soon!

TS-H552B so far so good just got one at microcenter 69.00
been burning 8x 8 mins for 4.5 gigs dvd-r will get some 16x media soon this drive is very quiet

bought at 4:00 Pm, at 4:30 the first DVD-R was ready.
In Italy costs 99.0â‚¬ and cames with OEM PinnacleInstantCD/DVD, a very usefull application, reach of options and easy to use.
The speed of this DVD writer is amazing; i've tried it with some low-cost DVD too, and the results is perfect.

Just bought one of these today from Microcenter (b&m, but you can order online at microcenter.com) for $99.99 (OEM, comes w/ Nero 6, windvd, etc.). written 4 data disks so far, and 1 +rw, no problems.

DVD Write types
CAV = Constant Angular Velocity, the DVD is written at a constantly increasing speed.
CLV = Constant Linear Velocity, the DVD is written at a constant speed.
ZCLV = Zone Constant Linear Velocity, the DVD is divided into zones. After each zone the write speed is increased.
PCAV = Partial Constant Angular Velocity, the DVD is being written at an increasing speed until a certain speed. After this speed it will not increase anymore.

EIDE = Computer DVD Writer with EIDE/IDE connection
SCSI = Computer DVD Writer with SCSI connection
USB = Computer desktop DVD Writer with USB 2.0 or/and 1.1 connection
FireWire = Computer desktop DVD Writer with IEEE 1394/FireWire/i.Link connection (some standalone desktop dvd recorder supports this also but then it is usually to connect your DV camera to the recorder)
