I bought my LG GSA-5120D in Germany. I´m not happy with burning DL DVD´s.Burning an any other type of disc´s is very good, no errors yet. On DL DVD´s Nero Burning room shows an Error (fokus error )on writing the second Layer and that´s it... I could drop the disc each time wenn i make a burning on this type of disc.Is this an error of the Writer or problem with this kind of disc?? I used TRAXDATA DVD+R DL 2,4 x. Could anyone help me with some information, ideeas, something??? Thank, Tibi Comments posted by Tibi K from Romania, March 09, 2005. Rated this writer No rating. |

I bought my LG GSA-5120D from TigerDirect for $99 in Jan05. The drive was bundled with CyberLink PowerProducer and PowerDVD, NeroGold and INCD. I also visited the LG website to get the firmware updates(2 updates now available). I bought the drive so I could read DVD-RAM discs burned by my DVR E55. Prior to getting the firmware update, my laptop would sometimes have difficulty seeing the drive. I also found that I have to manually turn it off after the PC shuts down and back on prior to turning the PC on to make my system most stable. The firmware update seems to have fixed all the bugs. Just bought this from tigerdirect for $99 a couple of days ago. I've burned a few dvds with it, at first I thought it was a POS. Turns out that, DVDXCOPY does not work with this burner. Am using CloneDVD and it works fine, made like 5 DVD's with no problem. There is a new firmware available on LG's website that supposedly should help fix the problem mentioned by the other post. Only cons I see with this burner is that it's kinda noisy. Pros is that it also reads DVDRAM, and has ports for both USB2.0 AND Firewire! Bought this recorder in order to Burn DL media..... Tried every possible way to burn DL's.... Used Verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4x media.... It burns them ok but the discs either don't play or they freeze at the layer change (L0 - L1)..... I tried with nero, dvd decrypter and various programms.... LG MUST release a firmware Upgrade and get rid of the useless A104.... DON'T BUY IT unless new firmware come along.... Comments posted by Stelios from Greece, November 04, 2004.
