This was a really good burner for me while it lasted. It burned both +/-R. I liked the fact that it did HD-BURN for CDRs. About 5 months after buying it, it started giving me Tracking Servo Erorrs and would not burn another DVDR. I don't blame this on the drive, so I still gave it an 8 out of 10. I bought this as an I/O Magic 12X drive at Staples for dirt cheap, the sticker on drive says it's a DD1203. The box had IDVD12D on the UPC. I flashed the hacked firmware from a DD1205 drive from cdfreaks, and now I can write Dual layer DVD+R's. It writes HD burn cd's great too (1.4 gigs on a standard cdr). Windows calls is a "GENERIC DVD RW 12XMax" Comments posted by Chris from United States, November 02, 2004. Rated this writer 10 of 10. |

Works great on all +r and -r 4x and 8x media I tried -- no coasters. It burns as fast or faster than my 8x plextor, and reads faster too. The 4x +r media that the Plextor burns at 8x can also be burned at 8x with the optorite w/ latest firmware (v. 120E). I haven't tried HD-burn or any 12x media yet, but so far I am impressed, especially given the price (half the price of the 12x plextor). The only negative thing I can say is that it takes longer to open the drive tray than other drives I've used. Comments posted by Mark from United States, July 20, 2004. Rated this writer 10 of 10. |

Every Piece of Media I have put in this thing works!! Also The HD-Burn Feature is the shit!!! Big upps to Optorite on this one!! I got this one over the NEC DL 2500A because DL Disk are not gonna be worth it Price wise when they come out. It will probably be a year or so before they come down to where the consumers will like the price Comments posted by Obrj from United States, June 17, 2004. Rated this writer 10 of 10. |
