Just boughte this burner a few days ago and is working like a charm! Burned with Pinnacle for home movies and Nero,DVD Decryptor, DVD 95copy, and DVDshrink. All work great with no probs. Running Cell.1800 pros., 256Ram, 60+20 Hard drive. Burns to DVD+RW not DVD-RM. But no prob, just copy to DVD+R and format +RW. Comments posted by kcsport from Other, May 23, 2003. Bought this drive off Ebay and installed it in a dedicated DVD PC. Spent a day using / learning to use it and it has yet to let me down. I use DVD Decrypter, DVD2one and Nero. I tried DVDcopy, but got better results with Nero. Probably my fault, not the machine's. Ilike the machine, now if I could get a better price on blank media . . . My wife got me this drive for Christmas and I love it! I burned a few coasters at first, but it was because I was using Windows ME which wasn't up to the task of dealing with such large files and burning DVDs. Since I upgraded to Windows XP I haven't had a single problem. (50+ discs burned) I have used Memorex, Fuji and Verbatim DVD+R and +RW discs. I ususally use DVD Decrypter, Instantcopy and/or Nero for authoring and so far every disc has been playable in my Panasonic RV32, Sony DVP-PQ1, Toshiba SD-P2000 portable and even my old Panasonic A120. The only problem I have had is my PS2 won't play the discs authored by Instantcopy. This isn't really a problem for me since my Sony DVP-PQ1 is set up in the same room. All in all, I have thoroughly enjoyed this burner and it has been more than worth the price paid. Comments posted by ashfinger from Other, April 09, 2003. Rated this writer 10 of 10. |

I purchased this drive at Best Buy in the 2nd week of August for $279.00 It does DVD+R & +RW, in addition to CD-R & -RW. Speeds are the exact same as the HP/Philips/Sony trifecta of +R/+RW drives (2.4x; 2.4x; 12x10x32). It does a very good job, is quite fast, especially when you consider it takes but a few seconds to format a +RW disc (to put a movie on it, or to use as DirectCD backup, etc.). I have ONLY used Memorex media, which has been perfect with no coasters. I use Pinnacle Studio 8 for most of my stuff, with some use of the older v7 & Express. Good software is included, but I don't use it much (Nero, PowerDVD, neoDVD, etc.). I highly recommend this drive, as you really can't beat the price/performance/feature combination today.
