| Do not waste your time with this piece of junk. I have suffered with it for a year and burned a lot of disks. It takes forewer to recognize a disk in the drive (while the latest M$ Windows is frosen, of course). It burns most 4x - 8x media reliably only at 4x, but it is supposed to be a 12x drive! If you choose a higher speed, it burns a part of the disk and switches back to 4x. You can actually see different patterns on the disk afterwards. It recognizes 16x media only as 1x. | Excellent burner and the only minor problems I've had have been software and not hardware related. $60.00 off of eBay brand new so no complaints here and the firmware update was *EASY* if you follow their instructions ;) Comments posted by Sabro from United States, March 06, 2005. | Bought it at Fry's as an update to my Optorite DD0203. But one thing strikes right away: Fry's GQ DVD+R rated at 2.4-4X records only at 1X (one-X) while recording at 2.4X on the Optorite.
