Quite a good burner.
I had no problems so far except that i can't write on cheap dvd-r (ID AN31) at 4x, but only at 2x speed.

Great price of 137.00 at Ateck.com and writes at 4x on cheap 4x media that my Toshiba 4x burner could only write at 1x. Can't wait to purchase some 8x media to test it on. My only problem so far is Roxio CDCreator 5.3.5o doesn't regognize the burner. Have to wait for an update.

Great burner! No coaster from 15 discs burnt.
I've used TDK media(2X DVD-R) for movies back-ups and Pine media for data. I've also used w/o problems Emtec 2.4X DVD+RW media.
All movies played very good on my JVC XV-S500 DVD player.
Paid CAD207 in Canada.
Highly recommended for the price and flexibility.

Doesn't write 8x I used Maxell +R 4x; Memorex +R 4x; TDK +R 4x. Same blanc' that I can write 4x usign a Plexor 708.
Also LG site sucks, no customer support, no technical details, nothing helpful.
I do not advice anyone to buy this unit.

Excellent dual formatt (LG GSA-4081B). Simple to install. No problem backing up movies/ Games. Excellent qulality.

DVD Write types
CAV = Constant Angular Velocity, the DVD is written at a constantly increasing speed.
CLV = Constant Linear Velocity, the DVD is written at a constant speed.
ZCLV = Zone Constant Linear Velocity, the DVD is divided into zones. After each zone the write speed is increased.
PCAV = Partial Constant Angular Velocity, the DVD is being written at an increasing speed until a certain speed. After this speed it will not increase anymore.

Connection
Desktop = Standalone desktop DVD Recorder
EIDE = Computer DVD Writer with EIDE/IDE connection
SCSI = Computer DVD Writer with SCSI connection
USB = Computer desktop DVD Writer with USB 2.0 or/and 1.1 connection
FireWire = Computer desktop DVD Writer with IEEE 1394/FireWire/i.Link connection (some standalone desktop dvd recorder supports this also but then it is usually to connect your DV camera to the recorder)
