| I burn 25 dvd-r and 13 dvd+r and all work very well. The disk quality I use from very cheap (An32)to best one (TYG01). My 2500A can handle all the disk without any problem. Excellent burner. NEC really surprise me. I read the excellent review from www.cdfreaks.com and user's commend before I bought this burner. | Best DVD "Writer" right now. It write every dvd disk. Even those 35cents disk I bought online still write. The write quality is super compare to my old Sony 510A. NEC really does a good job on their writer and bios. I recommand Nec 2500 owner should not update bios unless you found a disk which can not write. 2500A is really a true A plus writer. Recommand. | I bought this burner just a few days ago and burned about 10 DVD's. I just tested it with DVD+R and it worked very quiet. | Purchaced first week of March 2004 Build Date on drive Feb 2004 Firmware 1.06 So far this drive has been excellent! Extremely quite. So far i have only burned acouple of 4x Fuji(ty) media. All of them were burned success fully at 8X, no errors reported by nero cd/dvd speed. When i first installed the drive the Device Buffer would fluxulate betwwen 6% and 98% when burning at 8x. | Drive works great. No coasters. Had fuji 4x write at 8x and used memorex 4x which isn't on the compability list. Currently using compusa 2.4x +R. Writes fine, it just asks a second time for blank media when using dvd-cloner2 software. | NOW IM REALLY REALLY UPSET. My brand new NEC 2500A turned up today and by god did it put a smile on my face. That was until I installed it and tried to write a dvd. it just made loud crunching noises and crashed my pc. on inspection it looks lik its been damamged in transit. | You will see and hear a noticable difference in the dvd's, cd's and mp3's that you burn. Use quality DVD+R's and CDR's and you will get close to error free transfers. -1 because the NEC just meets standards as a dvd/cd reader. | It has problems reading non finalized cds using the original 1.06 firmware. Same as for DVDs. Burning process is overall well - although it has only 2 MB cache which is a pity (for any dvd writer). | Great Drive. Have mine setup in a USB 2.0 Ext case. Burns have been flawless with +R (RICOHJPN01) media. no coasters as of yet. Also have burnt Sony +/- media (Made in Austria) with no problems. However, refuses to burn Prodisc03 media. Nero and DVD Decryptor won't even start the burn. Using Stock 1.06 firmware. Waiting for possible firmware updates to support more media. | This drive is great. I am new to DVD burning and I must say for easy installation and burning quality with best quality this is the drive to have. I received my drive, installed it in a Dell machine running Windows XP. It took maybe 1-2 minutes to get it up and running. I have been burning successfully now for over a week. I have burned 20 DVD's and have not had one coaster to date. I am very impressed with the quality of this drive and I love this site, it is full of helpful information and insite. | First DVD-Writer I own. Easy, reliable and solid performer. Only feature I am missing is the Bitsetting, to allow my Xbox and my older DVD-Rom (Asus DVD E612) in the PC to read the discs. Even the BulkDVD (Princo) I got, which my friends Nec 1300A could not write, works well with this writer. | I can't get this drive to work on either of my Windows XP Pro (service pack 1) systems. Both systems have Epox 8rda+ MBs. It is recognized as a CD-ROM drive but not a DVD drive.
