I an issue or two, as the person who did the first comment, but with Latest Firmware update available(AD 18), I have been able to burn on everything, I've bought, including those mentioned in the previous comment. Most burn at 8x with only 6x compatibility with Memorex (only bad issue so far) All +RW +R(I'm not into -RW or -R so I can comment) I have made, work in all my DVD players I have a lot( like my LG DVD RAM Super Multi DVR; NEC ND-3520A and PlayStation 2. I also have a Benq 4x DVD-ROM which reads them fine and a 20x NEC(Optiarc..Grr) burner. It rips & backs-up a DVD in about 20 Minutes, with 15 mins to rip 5 min to burn. Not bad for primarily a notebook DVD-+RW Burner! I was able to set to DVD-ROM for better recognition, using AnyDVD 6.5 This is a decent notebook drive. Stay away from this drive if you want RPC-1 riplock removal or bitsetting, as it is yet to have been made available, but then I have only found 2 notebook DVD+-RW drives that did!!! I give it a 9 for not being perfect, but considering I've owned it for over 6 months & only made 2 costers out of 900+ medium, I can't & won't complain Comments posted by Pcfixinman from United States, July 10, 2007. Not compatible with Memorex, Ridata, or FujiFilm media. I created a DVD on a Ridata +RW and my NEC ND-4551 cannot read the +RW. I use UJ-820S to create the same DVD using the same disc. My NEC reads/plays the disc without any issues. Many owners have the same problem when they are unable to read/play the disc (on any dvd writer or player) after creating using this drive if you search using on google. I have very bad experience with this drive. This is a very bad drive. Stay away from this drive if you could. No RPC-1 riplock removal or bitsetting available. Hence, I'm going to give it a 2. At least it can read DVDs that created using my NEC and Panasonic drives. Comments posted by Jorge from United States, December 31, 2006. Rated this writer 2 of 10. |
