| Just got from walmart, didn't do any firmware update and burns perfectly, tested with ritek 4x dvd-r G04. Didn't attempt to do any firmware update, if it ain't broke, don't try and fix it, is my motto. So far looks like a good little drive. I will post again if I have any problems. | Unknown how I would ultimately rate this DVD burner at the moment. So far, I am having trouble with it writing to any Memorex brand DVD-RW via Nero 6. I get "Could not complete Disc-at-once" errors, etc. Not sure if it is the drive, firware, media or software. DVD-R errors with KHypermedia DVD-R media as well. Any ideas? | Just purchased this drive on previous day at Cir.City for 69.99 AR. Took about 30 minute to install with no problems. Made one copy using DVDXcopy xpress with with no problems on Fuji DVD+RW media. The drive seems quiet and also handled burning a music CD well. I did not install the software that comes with the drive however and I use what I already have on my machine Downloaded(but did not install) the newest firmware on their site as Nero 6.0 indicated I had the initial firmwareFSO2. However, I decided to call support at Liteon to ask some questions about the firmware. The Liteon phone support person indicated that I SHOULD NOT INSTALL THE FIRMWARE(FSOB)AS IT HAS SEVERAL SERIOUS BUGS. I "should wait as some new fireware will be out in a couple of days". | Have burnt two DVD's with the drive. Used Windows MovieMaker and the myDVD 4.5 that came with it and the projects turned out great. | I just picked up a 411 box at Best Buy for $99 with NO REBATE. It's marked $149, and the register rang it up at that, but the sign on the shelf said $99. SO that's what I paid. The web still says $149... I'd rather have a slightly higher price with no rebate any day. Anyway, it IS a 451 inside, not a 411. Mine says December 2003. We shall see about media compatability... | After visiting this site and reading the reviews of the 411S I couldn't wait to pick mine up for $129 or $70 after rebate. I spent 3 weeks trying to iron out my problems with various media and software before I came to the conclusion that the Drive was to blame. The worst part was that the movies would play fine for the first few minutes in some DVD players and then start skipping all over the place. I have a wide range of players and this was infuriating me. DVD - or DVD + with the same problems. I finally took this drive back today after downloading the latest "Firmware update" to "G" which was later removed from the Lite ON IT site since it had problems. Unfortunately there is no way to downgrade the firmware that I know of so the drive is now history. | This burner is great. Got it installed right away and it burned everyting i threw at it. I didn't even update the firmware the first time I used it and I got a perfect burn. I am using Ritek dvd+r and each one burns flawless. This is a great burner for the money especially if you bought it before Christmas when it was on sale. I recommend it to anyone. | Bought the drive at Circuit City yesterday and had a real bad night. I immediately updated the firmware and realised that the drive is not recognizing the DVD+RW media that came along with the drive. I tried various softwares and it gave me the same effect. Then I tried to play some DVD movies and the drive would spin up for a while trying to recognize the dvd. It was not able to recognize all the DVD's I put it. I sent mails to liteon and called their support team but got no response. I returned the drive today and picked up the last one there. This drive for now recognizes dvd+RW as DVD+r. Is this correct? On the DVD cover it says DVD+RW but when I put it in the drive it says it is a DVD+r. This is the one that came with the drive. Anyways I am yet to test the DVD writing and movies. | I did not mess around, I updated the firmwear immediately and have never had a problem. I've stuck with the first brand of media I've tried, khypermedia, and never looked back. This drive is AWESOME!!! My first burn with this drive: I was very pleased when my first movie burned on khypermedia DVD-R at 4X with Xcopy worked on my Xbox! That's right, my XBOX. It suprised me so much because of how picky the Xbox is when it comes to audio CDs (only worked with CD-RWs). This drive is worth every penny I spend on it great drive. It work all media brought for it, which Verbatim, Maxell, and Fuji. | I'm very pleased with mine. I flashed the latest fw (0G) and use the booktype utility to set the bit for dvd-rom if needed. Very fast cd-recorder also. | Seem to make a lot of beer mats out of DATA WRITE AND NEO DVD-R DISC. Eventually got PERFECT RESULTS using DATASAFE -R DISC . NO WRITE ERRORS. | I have the latest firmware update. As soon as I got it I updated it immediately thanks to all who recomended. Anyway got DVD+R 4X Arita media from newegg.com 100 on spindle for $99 bucks. I have not made one frisbee out of 30 burned so far. I used Intervideo Platinum with MyDVD piggyback. All play in all my DVD players which range from Denon, Sony, Panasonic, JVC, and Sharp!
