| Im thinking either this or a pioneer 106. What do you guys think?? I already have a liteon dvd-rom and liteon cd burner, so id like to get this dvd burner to match, but it sounds like it has problems with compatability?? | Have had mine for a month. Was not getting very good burns with original firmware, but with the newest FSOB, have had successful burns with +R media (2.4x & 4x Memorex & Fuji). -R media burns and plays on my CD player, but not always on standalone...I think this is software related though (DVDXCopy Express). | Had mines about a week. Having problems with speed of write. I keep getting an error saying "Can only write at 2x instead of 4x because speed of source data is to slow. | Strange burner this one - mine will burn DVD's OK but my DVD player won't play the Ritek +R's - yet the +RW's play OK. The supplied burner software only writes audio CD's at 6x , and Discjuggler 4 / WINONCD 3.8 can't see it at all. Hope to see firmware updates regularly. Opinion? | There must be a bad batch of these drives. I have been real happy with Liteon in the past but this drive is a big disappointment. I bought it a week ago and have tested it with a total of 3 official released firmware. The drive will burn 4X media without any problems but they will not play in 2 of my home dvd players and not readable on one PC DVD player. When comparing the burn from my Pioneer 2X on the same media you can see a noticeable gap difference where the start of the burn occurs. No burner settings have changed from previous burner and tested with Nero 6.0.0.23 and Elby 1.3.x Tested DVD-R 4X on RITEKG04, LEADDATA01 and PRINCO all good. Plays on Phillips 724 and Mintek 1770. | Bought this writer about three weeks ago along with some Princo 4X -R. It managed to burn 3 out of a spindle of 10 it would not accept the rest and kept spitting them out. I though fair enough I might have a bad batch of disks so I tried TDK-Rs, still no luck even with the latest firmware (FSOB). I am not very happy so I called the shop I bought it from today and they put me in touch with a techie employed by the Australian importer Synnax. He said that I may have a defective drive. club.cdfreaks.com has a site on their forum just dedicated to this drive (liton forum) and is worth a look. | Had it for over a week now. Using Ritek media, and it works superbly. Only problem I've found is the accompanying software "Sonic MyDVD", this tends to send my whole system haywire, especially when writing multiple film discs, where it eventually "halts". 1 coaster due to the software. | Bought the writer yesterday, burned a couple of each + and - at 4 speed, no problems so far. Only thing I have found is that the bundled Sonic mydvd once installed does a strange thing to the dvd/cd player.. it stops regognising backup CDs that were burnt using Nero.. says.. disk in drive needs formatting or just does not see it, strange one. uninstalled sonic and all was ok again. | Only had this a few days so this might be a little premature but so far I am impressed with this burner. It burns CDs very fast and I have burned a couple of Ritek G03s at 2x and both worked fine. I have burned a +R (Ricohjpn01) at 4x and it worked perfectly. My main reason for buying this burner over the Pioneer 106 is the 4x +RW capability. I have a couple of Philips 4x +RW disks on order so I'll see how it performs with them. I'll post an update once I have played with the 4x +RW media later this week. | Got this for AU$260. Am a bit disappointed with the media compatibility but the ritek g04 seem to go ok for video and xbox. | Purchased this drive (Liteon LDW-411S)just over a week ago ($245.00), it doesn't seem to like cheap media such as princo, burns ok no errors but you can't read the disk. I also tried some ritek -r disks seemed to burn ok but on viewing, movies lock up after a period of time. I have used ricoh +rw and +r disks with no problems as well as verbatim -rw and +r. It looks like all us liteon owners will have to use good quality media or hope a firmware upgrade helps with regards to media compatability. | Paid about $150 (after VAT refund) for OEM model in Austria, as a companion to my Lite-On LVD-2001. It does everything it's supposed to. It may be finicky about cheapo/no-name discs, but so was my Pioneer A04. I've learned to stick with name brands, no problems. I've been using Sony and Memorex (+ and -) with this drive, haven't had any coasters and they all play on my LVD. Clean and quick burning. Cons: Ripping seems very slow and CD access seems fussy at times. Hoping Lite-On addresses these issues through firmware upgrades. Comments posted by Mark from Other, October 12, 2003. | I also just bought my Liteon LDW-411S from AusPCMarket today. I have heard so much about Liteon CD burner (good thing) but have not used one. This DVD writer is fast, just like what it claims. However I have problem backing up my Monster Inc DVD on 2 of the Ritek 4x DVD-R that I bought along with it. I thought Ritek is supposedly to be good quality. Eventually back it up on 3rd disk. Bought it for AU$325 from AusPCMarket.com.au + I got 5 FREE HP DVD+RW (And 2 blank discs inside also)!!
