I would have to agree with the memorex issue. As far as other media, TDK, Sony media disc I have had no problem. The burning software that came with the unit is a superior program. I would recomend that you upgrade to Nero 7 Ultra to fully take advantage of the programs parameters. Your correct in that the version of Nero that came with the Sony unit is somewhat weak, but that is because it's an older version. Otherwise it works fine. Spend the $70 and buy the Nero 7 Ultra Edition, you'll be glad you did. I am. Comments posted by Rick from United States, March 07, 2007. Rated this writer 8 of 10. |

I haven't had it long enough to really rate it, but I do have some media info to share. It works fine with Memorex DVD-R 16x, but doesn't like Memorex DVD+RW 4x. I've been playing with Panasonic DVD-RAM 2-3x, and it seems to read and write them okay, but the software that comes with the drive (Nero6.6) doesn't seem to like the RAM disks (or the VRO files) much at all. (It's my first experience working with RAM disks, and I'm very unimpressed. But like I said, I think that's the software.) Speaking of the software, I don't think it's the full Nero, it seems to be an abbreviated version. Comments posted by John Little from United States, May 31, 2006. Rated this writer No rating. |

I am giving this drive a 7 for now. It has burned both - and + Dvd 8x media from Fuji,Tdk,Maxell as well Cd-r media from Fuji Japan,Fuji Taiwan, Tdk. I will re-review after having tried the 16x media, double layer ,and Ram media. So far it's all good for me. Comments posted by pokesmot from United States, March 12, 2006.
